ARTIST BIO
Art, for me, is a language that bridges the seen and the felt. My work is rooted in the human figure - its complexity, vulnerability, and strength. Through painting and drawing, I explore the nuances of gesture, expression, and form as a way to connect deeply with shared human experiences.
I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Missouri -Columbia and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. This dual foundation of studio practice and education has shaped not only how I create but also how I share art with others. As both an artist and educator, I see the creative process as a space for reflection, growth, and connection.
My figurative work is influenced by classical techniques, but I’m equally drawn to contemporary narratives - stories of identity, resilience, and emotion. Whether working in oil, acrylic, wood burning, charcoal, or mixed media, I aim to capture the quiet moments that often go unnoticed but speak volumes.
Art is how I understand the world, and teaching is how I invite others into that understanding. Each informs and inspires the other, and I’m continually learning through my practice, my students, and the ever-evolving dialogue between artist and viewer.
